Summer Camp Art Instructor

Do you love art and kids? The Color House is hiring an art instructor for this year's summer art program series. 

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Color House is seeking a qualified, energetic, and compassionate candidate as summer camp art instructor for summer 2024. Responsible for leading art projects that foster an environment that is fun and creative for the campers. The position requires the ability to manage day-to-day interactions with children ages 8-12.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with children in a school or daycare environment.

• Age 18+

• Available for entire summer camp session (5 weeks: July 8-19, Aug 5-23).

• Must enjoy playing and interacting with children.

• Organized, enthusiastic, and energetic.

•  Must take initiative, be self-directed, and capable of independently identifying and solving problems.

• Must have good communication skills and work well with both children and adults.

• Represent The Color House in a professional, caring, and thoughtful manner at all times.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Safely conduct and lead art camp sessions.

• Manage time efficiently.

• Direct engaging, age appropriate activities.

• Set up and clean up of all activities.

• Serve as a positive role model and mentor.

• Share highlights of session with parents.

  ***Applicant must be available to work Monday through Friday, July 8-19, Aug 5-23 from 9:00am to 12:00pm

Pay: $20/hour

Guest Teaching Artists

Do you have an art or craft skill that you are an expert at and would like to share your knowledge with others? The Color House is always looking for new classes to add to our calendar. As a guest teaching artist, you would work as an independent contractor and teach an art class to a group of up to 20 people. Most classes last between 1-2 hours.

Expectations for Guest Teaching Artists:

Adequately prepare for your class.

Coordinate with the studio regarding any material needs.

Arrive early to set up your class.

Guide the class through your project.

Stay within the class timing.

Friendly and fun personality.

Clean up all materials and mess from your class session.

 

Some examples of classes: acrylic painting, watercolor, hand-building with clay, pottery wheel, craft projects, illustration, drawing. We encourage additional art forms too.
